Swing Away

Twentiesh gal living and working in the lovely Charleston, South Carolina with a new husband and an imaginary dog. By day: marketing+social media geek. Otherwise, I'm sous vide cooking, history loving, museum trekking, margarita making gal, with a side obsession of counting down the days to the Hobbit films.

My name is Claire. Taking a swing here at all things thrown my way.

Spent the last day of a holiday weekend with a very dear friend, who brunched with me over mimosas, eggs, fried alligator, and shrimp and grits. I love living in Charleston (and of course this food is to die for), but not having her here on a regular basis is painful every time she visits. Here’s to hoping the new year brings her back home, and that she makes it home safe tonight.

This is what I call a Charleston Caprese Sandwich. Charleston because of the Palmetto Cheese.
And now I want another one, despite it only being 9 a.m.
My recipe here.

Ugh. Just discovered another introspective, photogenic foodie blog that I can’t get enough of. Why am I so attracted to this? Also, mouth watering:

Cocoa brownie with salted peanut butter frosting. Just stop.

The art and care and effort only matter if you love the food as much as the cooks do. Otherwise, what’s the point?

via TIME, Are Gastrocrats Bad News for True Food Lovers?

My thoughts exactly on why I get easily offended at nice restaurants if I see others acting like idiots. Just because you’re on vacation doesn’t mean you can be a jerk. Some of us are there for the whole experience.

Couldn’t figure out why the whole house smelled like farts until I checked on this. Now I am no longer complaining.

Happy St Pat’s! Eat yer corned beef ‘n cabbage!

The photo doesn’t do this stuff justice, but how cool is this? It’s gold dust that you put on food.
Too bad it’s $276. Otherwise I would be gold-dusting everything I eat.
