@stickyheels: Why is it so miserable? →
stickyheels: shaba: I hate putting laundry away more than any other household task. ME TOO. If it was left to me we’d just have tiny piles of laundry all over the floor. Thats why T & I made a deal. I “do” the laundry, as in, I make sure it gets in the washer and dryer…and I fold laundry…and he puts it… Also, the fact that I do the laundry for my man should be enough.

– My friend/old roommate Anna, in an email response to our senior year room. She’s always good at making me smile.

A brief defense of Aaron Sorkin →
comicsandcouture:   When it comes to writing, Aaron Sorkin ranks high among my personal heroes, so I enter into this post with some serious bias. I don’t write television. I tried once, but I don’t think I’m cut out for it. Whatever kind of stories you tell, though, I think there’s a lot to be learned from the man when it comes to matters of writing. I say this because he’s getting a lot of...

Sometimes, there’s just that sense of satisfaction that comes when you skip something to do something else. Right now I have laundry in the washer, hot chocolate in my mug, and videos shooting their way over to Youtube so I can upload JameyandClaire.com. Now I just need the dryer hogs to remove their loads. Then this evening’s pleasure will measurably increase - as well as when my man...

– I had no idea people liked libraries so much, but that’s British folk for you. You get fired up to read books when your national TV only has lawn bowling and Gordon Ramsay on it. The Independent (via peterwknox) notes that 378 books were being checked out per hour, and not just the nude modeling...

gallows-guillotines asked: I have 13 guineafowl, I will never eat them, but they are so gorgeous. They roam around my farm so happily, and yes they have only one partner for life. They may be noisy, but I can't live without them.

Questions answered: Guinea fowl
The crazy things I saw are known as guinea fowl. I’ve never seen anything like it. Apparently these birds are monogamous. Not only that, people garden with them, have breeders associations, use them as tick predators to control lyme disease, and eat them BBQ-style (among many other recipes). So. Now you know. (Thanks to those who answered! I would have never guessed.)

shaba: swingaway: highheelsandtwowheels: It’s getting cold down south and I’m going into hibernation mode. And it’s only getting colder this week, teens? twenties? brrr. I haven’t been to the grocery store in ages and am surviving on Chinese delivery, all because I’m too lazy/whiny to get out on the bike when I get home from work…. No, I still think it’s mildly bad - what kills me the...

Happy Tuesday
Went out and got myself a job today. Interview led to lunch, which led to an offer and then a work-related drive before I start tomorrow. It’s going to be a change from what I’ve done before, but in many ways it’s possibly a kickstart toward a new path and a new career interest. And this, I think, is a direction I definitely need. I’m intrigued, excited and looking forward...

“She came in on a tragedy and she left on a tragedy.”

A response from Laura
Laura’s response to my post on her minimalist choices: As we create our homes, we find that we want to make our space more meaningful and lasting. Now that’s something to live by.

In case you needed a reason to stalk me more on the Internet, Jamey and I have started an engagement/wedding/life advice blog.  If that doesn’t make any sense, just venture over there. All things will be explained in time.

5 Easy New Years Image Resolutions →
stickyheels: jesssica: I will only buy what is flattering to me. I will avoid buying anything that I have the mental thought of “It’ll do” rather than “I love it”.  I will save my money for “I love it” items, even the basics need to be the best basics for my wardrobe. I will go through my wardrobe and will get rid of any clothing (sell, charity, consignment, donate, swap) that no longer suits...

Living Minimally
My friend Laura is doing something incredible: she’s participating in Project 333, which encourages participants to choose only 33 items of clothing to wear over the course of three months. I’m really amazed with this project, and I’m interested to see how she handles this challenge through the cold winter months. The 33 items pictured above are the articles she’s...

Today in bad ideas →
nbclocal: In an attempt to force her boyfriend to propose, a Chicago woman called 911 and said he was attacking her.  The truth was weirder. “She called  911 to scare him and have the police force him to marry her,”  said Grand Central District police Capt. Grand Central District Capt. Ronald Pontecore.  At least I never got to this point pre-engagement. Well, at least I haven’t yet.

I’m making it my goal to win something for my wedding. This is probably a very unrealistic goal to have, but this time I don’t care: I am throwing my full weight into making this an accomplishment! And now I will probably be equally disappointed when it doesn’t happen. Oh, well. I at least have low expectations.

I can’t remember the last time I was this happy to be home. Love my man, my house, and this smoked pork butt with sous vide asparagus I am about to consume. Happy 2011 already!
